Not clearly. Most "paper" takeaway cups have a plastic polyethylene lining making them unrecyclable. A paper cup uses more water and energy to produce than a plastic cup. Both typically end up in landfill. A reusable cup (ceramic, metal, or proper BPA-free plastic) is by far the best option — it pays back its environmental cost after 15–50 uses.
